As a practicing midwife since 1992 and more recently a Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner (Health Visitor), my aim to is provide a service that meets the needs of its clients.
Pregnancy and parenting is an exciting time but can also be very daunting venturing into the unknown.
A phrase I use often with parents regardless of whether its their 1st or 3rd child is that "every baby/child is an individual and they do not arrive with an instruction manual ".
My experience has included working in a variety of consultant and midwifery led units in London and South of England. Roles include being unit research coordinator for a study relating to pre-term birth and supporting midwives to work in a low risk birthing ward within a consultant led unit.
Delivering antenatal classes has always been very enjoyable ,which led me into delivering child care courses to 6th form students .
I gained adult teaching qualifications whist training and assessing Health and Social Care qualifications.
My interests include perinatal mental health. Through training provided by the Institute of Health Visitors (IHV), I'm now able to deliver their Perinatal Mental Health Multidisciplinary Champion Training Programme.
South Western Ambulance Trust First Responder since 2010
